Merits & Demerits
The flourishment of good character is important at AHS. Our merits and demerits system allows us to recognise how well our young people are engaging with the AHS Values and Skills of REAL and CORE.
Each period, a pupil can achieve the following merits:

*Teachers will issue 2 x merits at the start of every lesson (Good Behaviour and On Time). Additional merits can be added at the end of the lesson. Equally, merits can be removed if not earned.
Demerits
If a pupil does not meet the expectations during a lesson they may receive a demerit.

*A non-uniform demerit is issued daily period 1 if applicable.
Weekly Report
A weekly report is sent home via groupcall to inform parents/carers and their child of their weekly merit award each week. If a pupil earns 50 or more merits in a week they will achieve Gold. If a pupil earns between 35 and 50 merits in a week they will achieve Silver and if a pupil earns between 1 and 35 merits in a week they will achieve Bronze.The awards a pupil achieves each week are tracked and monitored. Formal recognition, awards ceremonies, rewards and opportunities available for the young person at activities day in June are just some of the ways in which we celebrate success.
