What will I learn in this subject?
The Lab Skills course consists of four units:
Careers Using Laboratory Science – Scotland – This unit introduces learners to the wide range of industries and services that use scientific knowledge and laboratory sills.
Working in a Laboratory – This unit provides learners with the opportunity to learn basic laboratory skills such as handling chemicals and preparing solutions and calculate and present results of their practical work.
Practical Skills – this unit provides learners with the opportunity to develop the skills most commonly used in laboratories Health and safety is an integral part of this unit
Practical Investigation – In this unit learners will plan and carry out their own scientific investigation and produce a scientific report.

How will I be assessed?
This course is internally assessed with a mixture of written assessments (for example an experimental report) and demonstration of practical skills. Some assessments will be open book.
What are the entry requirements for this subject/level?
Achieved National 4 in any Science subject.
