What will I learn in this subject?
The course has three units, Administrative Practices, IT Solutions for Administrators and Communication in Administration. Learners will:
- develop a basic understanding of administration in the workplace and key
legislation affecting employees. - develop an appreciation of good customer care.
- develop IT skills and use them to perform straightforward administrative tasks.
- acquire organisational skills in the context of organising and supporting small-scale
events.
How will I be assessed?
All internal assessment. SQA Added Value Unit and SQA Unit Assessments for each unit.
What are the entry requirements for this subject/level?
No entry requirements.
National 5 Administration & IT
What will I learn in this subject?
The course consists of three units: IT Solutions for Administrators, Communication in Administration and Administrative Practices. Learners will:
- develop skills in using spreadsheets, databases, word-processing, desktop publishing and presentations.
- develop skills in using technology for electronic communication and investigation.
- develop skills in organising and supporting events.
- develop problem-solving skills in administrative contexts.
- develop an understanding of the theory of the tasks (duties) and knowledge associated with the administrative support function in an organisation.

SQA Assignment - 42%

Higher Administration & IT
What will I learn in this subject?
Candidates develop understanding of:
- the importance of administration theory in the workplace.
- advanced digital literacy skills and how to use them to process, manage and communicate information.
- organisational and management skills in the context of organising and supporting the workplace.
How will I be assessed?
SQA Exam - 50 marks
SQA Assignment - 70 marks
